Since economic times are getting more difficult, what electronics or technology would you eliminate to save money? For example, cutting back on cellphone use, cable service, satellite radio, video games, internet usage, etc. Give a brief reason why you picked that item.
I'm a new driver and my parents won't let me go anywhere without a cell phone for safety reasons. We have cut back on cable tv and we are also considering completely eliminating our home phone since my mom, dad, sister and I all have cell phones. Another thing we're doing is just trying to be conscience of simple things like turning off the lights, turning down the thermostat, using less hot water and car pooling. Haven't seen a huge difference yet but it's kind of taking the financial edge off. We can't eliminate our internet because I'm taking online classes and also do most of my work over the internet. We also haven't blown any money on video game systems and new games. We also got rid of one of our music programs since we were paying for two separate ones for our downloads.

Hi! My name is Karl and I am planning to take up Information Technology in college because I really am fond of computers and the internet. I just want to know the following:
1. What is Information Technology all about?
2. What are the possible jobs that I can have after I finished studying Information Technology?
Thanks for answering!
1) Information in the narrow sense is about the use of computers to accomplish tasks and the associated maintenance of said systems.
2) Well, the use of computers is prevalent everywhere now, so the most important part of getting jobs working with computers these days are not general skills, but coupling knowledge of computers with specific knowledge other subject matter. Everyone has to specialize to some degree, so pick another subject you find interesting to tie in
In broad measure, the IT world falls into the category of people who administer systems, and people who program (although that line is blurry).
I'm planning to develop an online dictionary of my native language to English. There will be approximately 40,000 words. How do you think which technology is efficient to use in terms of speed? I have 2 choices, PHP+MySQL or ASP.NET+MSSQL. As I said above, the main criteria is web-site should be fast. Thanks in advance.
It will be good in PHP and MySQL.

“When you look at the literature of human adaptation, what we know is that we are these amazingly exquisite communication instruments,” says UC Berkeley psychology professor Dacher Keltner.
