Is train the cheapest way to get to London from Madrid? What about by plane?

And one more thing, how many hours will it take to travel by train?

You could probably find a cheap flight from Stansted or Luton. Try a search on skyscanner.net

Here is a complete guide to travel between London and Madrid by train, including an indication of fares:-

You can leave Madrid at 7pm and arrive in London the next day before 1pm, having slept and eaten on the train overnight, with only having to change trains once (in Paris). Not fast, but far more refined and relaxing, plus you arrive in the centre of London instead of at some distant airport an hour or two outside the city.
